Hopefully this helps clarify the situation. So for now a functioning installer for Yosemite would give me the capability to progress things in the manner in which I would prefer. I can see why Apple do it but sometimes I reckon they close the door on people too completely who are maybe operating behind the curve of MacOs development for whatever reason that may be. They work for me and I can achieve what I need from them. Software such as Adobe suite, Quark, Aperture etc are among the ones I need to use. The simple case is that I cannot afford the cost of upgrading some of the software which is why I am taking this approach. I would prefer to have a more managed progressive upgrade of the MacOs rather than go straight to the latest in order that I can assess how things function for me regards my software. I do actually have a copy of Yosemite installer but it can't be verified by the app store so doesn't install. Once more the installer is no longer available to download. The existing Garageband would function with Yosemite. In order to progress things then I am looking to test out installing Yosemite on one of my hard drives which has a copy of all my software on it running under Maverick. Remember you can have Mavericks and all the apps you need on an external drive, and upgrade the OS on the internal drive so you can have the benefits of new security updates, and a more secure Safari.
